Re: Any music producers in here? Music always played a huge role in my life, but I gotta admit I do not have that way of musician's thinking, so I've never managed to successfully learn an instrument.
I've made an electronic music album with Fruity Loops back in 2005, but was not satisfied with the sound of it's instruments, especially knowing Reason's power, but Reason's workflow is very hard to get into.
Then I discovered Ableton and was totally hocked by the workflow and I could easily include Reason with the rewire feature.
Being not a good musician, but I do claim to have a good feeling for "flow", I've managed to host some kick-ass partys in major german citys a few years ago.
Nowadays, I still use Ableton in kind of the same way, I've Djed back then, to produce my Eccojams. It's like playing Lego. XD
I do prefer the sound of Audacity for slowing and pitching down samples, but for the life of me, I can not get into it's workflow.

Re: May 2019 Producer Thread

Sounds cool, but I don't understand what it is?! =)
Is this going to be a compilation album or some sort of Vaporwave radioshow/podcast?

BTW, does the track have to be unreleased?

Re: May 2019 Producer Thread

And here is another album, let me know what yall think.
(when the karma kicks in)

Love Always and Forever,
Shifty Comfort

Was just listening to this, then I stumbled over your comment. =)
Some fine arts you got there, sir! Perfectly mastered, deep and eerie feeling, almost too catchy for a broken transmission album. Great realease, too!
Btw, imma bad visual artist, so I just copied the legs over and over in another color. XD

Best synth pop song of the 80s I want to know what is, in your opinion, the biggest and greatest Synth Pop masterpiece of the 80s.
Here is my Top 5:

1. Daryl Hall & John Oates - Out Of Touch

2. Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You

3. YES - Owner of a Lonely Heart

4. Paul Young - Come Back and Stay

5. Icehouse - Hey Little Girl

Hope you got some inspiration, now go post yours! =)

Re: What really started the Synthwave/Outrun movement? In my opinion, a significant factor was the french eletro scene in the early 2000 around the labels Ed Banger and Kitsune. From this Nu Disco and Synthwave slowly emerged especially by the label Valerie Collective. Then Kavinsky got huge and Synthwave was finally established.

That's how I experienced it as an 34 years old german fart. ^^

These are some of my essentials, but then again, I think Vaporwave shouldn't work this way, it's an endless yetstream of muzak. Sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't, it doesn't matter, enjoy the ride!

Re: What is the essential vaporwave discography?
Hey ISAAC! thanks for considering me Essential! I've attached some bandcamp codes for you all!

I think I'd have to agree with you, there is more vaporwave out there than can be reasonably listened to in a lifetime. Every day there's more often vaporwave added to that, and that excludes the shitpost pizzawave (Your vaporwave's finest subreddit is a great example of that, its all worth giving at least one listen, but it really is impossible for me to do so with only 24 hours in a day).
my approach now is "throwing things at the wall and see what sticks". some albums grab me and then I grab the album. Lately I've been getting to know more artists in the community on a personal level and I've found that it really adds to how i experience their music.

My first music experience was Euro Dance, so how could I not consider you essential?! ;)
Yeah, I created that sub in the means to give small, unknown artists a plattform (if they post on r/Vaporwave once) and with Vaporwave being such an infinetly broad genre, there are A LOT of hidden gems for anyone out there.
I love simple Eccojams, some Chuchwave and tricky ambient stuff and there is certainly outstanding stuff out there, besides the usual shilled for stuff, you see on r/Vaporwave.
It's inevitable, as corporate structures taking over more and more and trying to market Vaporwave, but in the end, I believe, sampled stuff is a barrier, they will never cross.
Enough rambling...yeah, it's also very cool, that most artists are easily approachable and there is lots of "low rank" connectivity going on in the scene.
